PPD.

Overall, during this term I think I have been extremely focussed. I have been determined to do well and be motivated by this project. For this project we had to create our own business or a brand extension, I chose to do a brand extension. I felt, and still do feel so passionate about my idea and I think that is why I have been motivated to do my work. I genuinely think my idea could work, so it has been quite exciting putting it all together as if it is happening in real life. Throughout my project I have managed to gather a lot of feedback, I created a survey where 40 people answered it. They were all positive responses which supported my work even further. I also managed to speak to people who work in the industry, where they only supported my idea even further. I feel that my tutors this term have been really helpful. They have delivered great lecture and seminar sessions that have given me good information that I can use to support my business plan. They have been extremely supportive, answering my questions and emails immediately, and spending extra time with me after lectures and during seminars to make sure I understand fully. 
I really enjoyed keeping a weekly blog. As I already currently run my own fashion blog, I didn't find it challenging or annoying to run a separate one for my university work. I always made sure it was updated with new content or just a small summery of my week and how I was finding the work. 
I also enjoyed shooting my advert. Even though the filming and editing skills were basic, I think it gave a great overall snapshot of my brand extension. I was really pleased with the movie maker, photoshop and excel classes. I feel that the excel classes were especially helpful. The teacher went through the classes slowly to make sure that everyone understood, and then went round the class after to make sure everyone was doing the correct thing and if they needed any individual help. I was nervous to create my financial plan however with the help of my excel classes, I was able to create my financial forecast by myself confidently. Additionally, with the help of the photoshop classes I created my logo in class which I am really happy with. 
Overall, I am happy with how my business plan has gone. I feel as if I have put in all the important and crucial information that had to be included. I think my university class mates have all been a great help to each other, as we all help each other out if any one of us is confused. 
I would like to add that I found my seminars with Natascha really helpful. She was a great tutor and was happy to help with any queries. She was extremely positive about my business idea and also came up with some good ideas to help me. 
My second year is now coming to an end which is a bit of a shock. It has motivated me for my third year, which I am nervous however excited about starting. 

Moodboard.

I have already posted my mood board but I thought I would re post it so it will be more recent on my blog. The mood board shows influential celebrities, current fashion trends, popular high st fashion brands and popular social media site logos. These are the components that make up my amazing app.. 'Inspired'. 

Storyboard.

Above shows my storyboard for my advert. I just did basic drawings to illustrate what is going on in the advert, and describing each scene step by step.

I'm really happy with my final advert, it took me a long time to edit it but I think it creates a great brand image. 

I'm currently drawing up my storyboard. I want to make it quite basic so it's easy to follow and follows the actual advert correctly. I'm just drawing stick people and narrating each scene step by step.

When the storyboard is done I will scan it onto my laptop and then post it on my blog! 

I've very nearly completed my business plan now and I feel pretty happy with how it's looking at the moment.

I finally managed to film and edit my advert successfully. I'm really happy with my results and I think it gives a great snapshot of my app. I've managed to include my logo and explain what service my app gives to the customer. I have also included audio (a voiceover and quiet background music).

We now only have about two weeks left of term, however it still seems like I have so much left to do.

I'm currently planning and organising how i'm going to film my promotional advert. I would like it get it filmed and edited by the end of the weekend, and then hopefully the storyboard will be finished shortly after. 

So far i'm happy with how my report is going, but I would like to go over what I have done so far with my tutor to make sure I am on the right track.

I am currently in the middle of writing my report. I'm really happy with my idea and concept however i'm finding the report quite difficult. I need to make sure it all flows together and correlates. I also need to create a realistic budget, and i'm not overly sure on how to do that. As my idea is an app, it is difficult to configure a budget. 
I'm also stressing about organising times and dates for when everything will be launched. 

I will need to film my video advertisement soon, however i'm not sure what the best way to advertise an app would be. I have been brainstorming a few ideas, so when i have a clearer idea I will post it on here!

Final App/Logo

As I changed my idea slightly to a brand extension, I re-did my logo/app (the bottom four). I'm really happy with them and I think they all look great. My favourite one is the first one as I think it looks the most professional and chic. However the fourth one may be better synergy with the original 'Look' logo.

Contemplating more ideas.

After my tutorial on Friday, I was really happy with the response from my idea. My tutor really liked my ideas, however she questioned if I needed to own the pictures of the celebrities on the app, and how tricky that would be. 
So I then thought that I could possibly do a brand extension from a fashion publication, with my same idea. My tutor and my university classmates really liked this idea. 

I think the publication that I will be doing a brand extension from will be Look Magazine. This means I will have to re do my logo. However I think that at the end of the day this will help me and make it less complicated for me. 

In my photoshop classes I have developed what my app would look like and the logo. I have decided to go for a monochrome theme, as I think it looks clean, fresh and professional.

Out of the four above, my favourite is the first one. I like the white text on the black background as I think it looks chic and sophisticated. This is the image I want my app to present.

Brainstorming Ideas..

I used the time off I had over Easter to brainstorm some ideas for my Final Major Project. It took a lot of time to create an idea I am passionate about and something that I think will be a viable business. I managed to get a lot of different opinions from family members and friends, and I came up with a business idea that I think would be popular, especially with a young target market, and that will stand out in the market. 

MY INITIAL IDEA: 

• An app 
• If you see a celebrity/socialite wearing an outfit that you like, you can search that particular celebrity on my app and it will inform you of where their clothes are from but it will give you high street and more affordable alternatives for them
• Our archive for each celebrity will go back for 2 months
• It will show celebs at events and their public outings 
• You can shop through the app

I have decided to go with the name 'Inspired'. At first I thought the main feature of this app was the celebrity and their style, however then I realised that the USP of the app is actually the inspiration you get from it. My customers do not need to copy the celebrity or buy the exact same products, but they can put their own touch on it and make it their own.
